Hi boys and girls :-)
well, I do have a Twitter account, tried it out a while back, don't use often at the moment, but you can check it out!

Didn't get around of trying it for work purposes, but I can see the advantages of such a thing...
The University already takes advantage of Twitter.. here are links to a few uni related ones..

A useful video you actually want to watch..
Hi, well, this is a really good talk, comes from one of the most interesting and full of information sites (www.ted.com).
The subject of this video is education and the title of this talk is:
"Ken Robinson says schools kill creativity"
Well, I agree with him, now do you? check it out and tell me what you think...

Creative Commons licences
The creative Commons licences is a great idea that helps a lot when it comes to sharing. However, such like any other licence, you need to think carefully about what you want and if such a licence works for you.
There are many version of the CC licence around and in many ways your work, when shared under such copyright rules, would be used in positive ways. However, if you are not careful, you might find your work used in ways you never would have agreed to.
For example, if you happen to have photos of a lovely Sydney park and you happen to appear in them, someone might decide to crop the photo, only take you then use it in a promotional poster of something you totally against, most CC licences would not prevent such things from happening since under the licence agreement you consent has already been granted.
The important thing here is always think ahead of what you agree to and what you authorise.

Flickr away...
Luckily I already had a yahoo email I don't use often... so I got a Flickr account pretty fast... :-)
Got out my trusty compact FujiFilm 200 EXR and thought for a second... now where can I get a good photo ? staff room where else! So, I went there, took a photo of Sydney CBD and uploaded the thing to Flickr.. the result can be found at:

The Flicker apps look great, I think I am going to have a closer look when I go home and see what can I use...
I remember the days when space used to be expensive! Hotmail used to give you 10 MB of space! lol, now they just throw the stuff at us.. :-)
have fun playing with all this ....

RSS feeds
I love RSS feeds, been using them for a while now, though, it became much better since I got myself an iGoogle page. It is a bit different from The Google reader mentioned on the 23 Things; in it you get you own home page and you can customise it anyway you want
http://www.google.com/ig
You would need to login to your Google account first though, personally, I have a main page that has my different email plug ins, ABC news RSS feed, weather and quote of the day, then I have a tab for all my favourite RSS feeds all displayed on that one page. I usually do a fast glance on the page and the headlines that I like I click on.
It is very convenient and I have the page as my home page at home...

23 Things expectations
Well, I have been waiting for the 23 Things program to run by the staff development committee at the Sydney Library ever since I went to a masterclass session run by Helene Blowers (The creator of 23 Things) early this year.
It is a great program to teach all about Web 2.0 technologies and I hope everybody gets as much from it as possible.
Creating this blog was of course as easy as the simple steps provided suggested.
